SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH SWITCH ACTIVATION CONTROL A surgical instrument (100) includes a housing (112) and an elongated shaft (116) operably coupled to an actuating mechanism (122) moveable between an actuated position and an unactuated position. An end effector (114) includes a pair of opposing first and second jaw members (130, 132) and is adapted to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy (141). A switch (136) is moveable between an activated position to initiate delivery of electrosurgical energy (141) to the end effector (114) and a deactivated position to terminate delivery of electrosurgical energy (141) to the end effector (114). A switch activation member (137a) is configured to move the switch (136) between an activated position and a deactivated position. A switch control member (126) is configured to maintain the switch (136) in the activated position during at least partial movement of the actuating mechanism (122) from the actuated position to the unactuated position. |
