<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control unit capable of steering a vehicle by appropriately recognizing the shape of a travel road even when the vehicle travels in a transition section between a curved road and a straight road.SOLUTION: Included are a shape recognition block 12 that recognizes the shape of a travel road using a produced image, a steering control block 13 that controls steering of a vehicle 1 on the basis of the recognized shape of the travel road, and a decision block 14 that decides whether the recognized shape of the travel road indicates a transition section between a curved road and a straight road. If a result of decision by the decision block 14 is in the negative, the shape recognition block 12 recognizes the shape of the travel road through first-order or second-order approximation. If the result of decision is in the affirmative, the shape recognition block 12 recognizes the shape of the travel road through third-order approximation.</p> |
