PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain deterioration of a thermal distortion member due to fatigue.SOLUTION: A cooling and heating unit comprises: a cooling and heating module (20) having plural thermal distortion members (21) for generating heat by applying a tensile force, and absorbing heat by cancelling the tensile force, and a belt conveying device (65) for circulating and moving each of the thermal distortion members (21) between a first air passage (P1) for applying the tensile force to the thermal distortion members (21) and a second air passage (P2) for cancelling the tensile force from the thermal distortion members (21); and a controller for controlling driving of the belt conveying device (65). The controller has a stop control part for stopping circulation movement of each thermal distortion member (21) by a roller conveying device (65) so that a stop position of each thermal distortion member (21) is changed from a previous stop position for leveling a load due to the tensile force by each thermal distortion member (21) when a temperature control operation of an air conditioner (1) is stopped.
