This component mounter is provided with an imaging device (41) that simultaneously images the sides of three of a plurality of suction nozzles (13) held by a rotating head (11) on this component mounter, namely: a suction nozzle (13(B)) that moves up and down so as to pick up a component via suction and mount said component or so that said nozzle can be replaced; and the suction nozzles (13(A, C)) on both sides thereof. Said imaging device (41) has an image sensor (42) and an optics unit (43) that forms an image of the side of a target part of each of the three suction nozzles (13(A, B, C)) on a light-receiving surface of the image sensor (42) such that said images do not overlap. The images of the two suction nozzles (13(A, C)) on the ends of the row of three suction nozzles (13(A, B, C)) that are imaged as components are being picked up via suction and mounted are processed so as to determine whether or not components have been picked up by said suction nozzles (13(A, C)) and the orientation in which said components were picked up. The image of the middle suction nozzle (13), taken during nozzle replacement, is processed to determine the presence or absence of said suction nozzle (13). |
