Selective Composite Rendering

Systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products are described below for rendering a graphical user interface by selectively compositing display contents. In general for each of one or more content producers, where each content producer is associated with content storage containing display content, display content for output is identified depending on the content consumer to which the graphical user interface is being rendered.

1. A method comprising:
providing to a content producer identifying information, wherein the identifying information indicates one or more rendering capabilities of a content consumer; sending a request to the content producer to render display content from a primary buffer to a frame buffer associated with the content consumer, wherein the primary buffer is associated with one or more rendering restrictions; and receiving from the primary buffer an alternative display content when the content consumer does not satisfy at least one of the primary buffer's one or more rendering restrictions.
