PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for magnetic disks being less prone to cause trouble such as head crash failure and thermal asperity failure, and to provide a magnetic disk and a method for manufacturing the glass substrate for magnetic disks.SOLUTION: A glass substrate for magnetic disks includes a pair of principal faces, side wall faces and chamfered face between the principal faces and the side wall faces, where surface properties of at least one face of the side wall faces and the chamfered faces has an arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of 0.015 μm or less and, in a load factor curve of the roughness cross section area, a load factor at a roughness percentage of 60% of 95% or more. |
