PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-based sintered sliding member in which a solid lubricant is dispersed uniformly not only in pores and the powder grain boundary but also within the powder grain and fastened firmly to a matrix and which is excellent in sliding characteristics and mechanical strength.SOLUTION: An iron-based sintered sliding member has an entire composition of 0.2-3.24% S, 3-10% Cu and remaining Fe and unavoidable impurities and has a metal structure consisting of a matrix dispersed with sulfide particles and pores. The matrix is composed of a ferrite phase or a ferrite phase dispersed with a copper phase. The sulfide particles are dispersed in a ratio of 0.8-15.0 vol.% relative to the matrix.
