a head unit including a head plate on which a print head is mounted; and a carriage that holds the head unit, wherein the carriage includes a connection plate that serves as a guide surface of the head unit when the head unit is attached and detached to and from the carriage in a sliding manner, and the connection plate is provided with a slide rail that extends in an attaching and detaching direction, and the head unit is provided with an engagement protrusion that engages with the slide rail.
