A brake control device provided in a saddle-type vehicle having wheels. The brake control device comprises a hydraulic pressure control unit, a lateral slide acceleration detection device, and an ECU for ABS. The hydraulic pressure control unit applies braking force to the wheels of the saddle-type vehicle. The ECU for ABS includes a CPU. The CPU detects front/rear sliding of the wheels and executes anti-lock braking. During anti-lock braking, the hydraulic pressure control unit is controlled such that the extent of front/rear sliding of the wheels approaches a target amount. The lateral slide acceleration detection device detects lateral sliding of the wheels. The CPU corrects the anti-lock braking so that the lateral sliding of the wheels is suppressed, on the basis of the detection results for lateral sliding of the wheels.
