PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connection device and optical connection method capable of constructing an optical communication system having high reliability, by reducing the connection loss when a plurality of optical waveguides are simultaneously interconnected in parallel and increasing the signal-to-noise ratio of an optical signal.SOLUTION: In a connection part between a fan-in/fan-out device 2 and a multiple core fiber 3, a collimator lens and convex lens are disposed on an end surface of each optical waveguide (core) 5 of the fan-in/fan-out device 2. The interval between the collimator lens and convex lens is set equal to the focal distance of the convex lens, thereby reducing the optical connection loss to nearly zero.
