PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the range and the relative attitude (pitch, yaw, and roll) between two objects with high reliability and low cost in a navigation system or the like.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method of forming a grid defining a first relative reference frame, and more specifically, a method of projecting into space from a first object 10 a plurality of modulated lines to form a grid defining a first relative reference frame 14.
