PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device reduced in size with proper consideration for the positional arrangement of position sensors in a lens module.SOLUTION: A position detecting device is provided with position sensors 16X and 16Y respectively arranged in a first direction orthogonal to the optical axis of a lens 11a housed in a camera module 21 and a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, and the position sensors 16X and 16Y are arranged separately in some of the four corners of the camera module 21. The position sensor 16X arranged in the first direction and the position sensor 16Y arranged in the second direction are Hall effect elements to compensate for camera shakes.
