PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent careless shooting of a knife of a surgical stapler.SOLUTION: A surgical stapler includes a housing, a slender member, and a replacement part. A cartridge 112 is configured to be selectively connected to a first jaw member 108 of the replacement part, and includes an elastic member. An anvil 111 operatively supported on a second jaw member 110 of the replacement part is configured to compress a fastener discharged from the cartridge. The anvil includes a locking member 132. A knife is configured to move translationally through the cartridge and anvil when the first jaw member and the second jaw member are configured to be closed. Engagement between the knife and the elastic member allows the elastic member to move from an initial configuration to a final configuration. The initial configuration allows the knife to move in a distal direction over the locking member. The final configuration allows the locking member to engage with the knife. |
