The purpose of an aspect of the present invention is to improve the data compression rate in the compression of data in which a break between units composing the data is shown by a symbol. A compression device comprises: a storage unit in which one compression code corresponding to a combination of a first element that is one of elements composing data and a first separator that indicates a break between the elements in the data is associated with the first element and stored; an acquisition unit which acquires, from the storage unit, the compression code associated with the first element read from the data and stored; and a writing unit which writes the acquired compression code into a storage region for storing compressed data of the data.
