PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a falsely recognized character into a correct character by a simple operation.SOLUTION: An OCR application 3 constituting a character reading device 100 along with a camera 1 and a touch panel display 2 incorporates a plurality of types of correction engines 30 operating based on different algorithms respectively, and an association table 36 for associating each correction engine 30 with a unique operation pattern on the touch panel display 2 respectively. A read character string derived by reading processing by a character reading processing unit 31 is displayed on the touch panel display 2 and, when receiving an operation executed within a display range of the read character string, a GUI control unit 32 discriminates the character subject to a correction, causes an engine selection unit 33 to select a correction engine 30 associated with the operation pattern, activates the selected correction engine 30, and derives a candidate character for replacement of the character subject to the correction. |
