PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the possibility that a word desired by a user is called as a candidate.SOLUTION: In a dictionary unit (a conversion dictionary 16, and a connection prediction dictionary 17) of a character input system 1, a plurality of nouns are classified into a plurality of categories on the basis of superordinate concepts thereof, and the classified nouns and words related to the categories are registered in association with the categories or attribute information showing a related category. A candidate extraction unit 14 searches the dictionary unit by use of a read character string composed by a read character string composition processing unit 13 or a character string determined by a determination processing unit 15. When a character string including a noun with attribute information associated therewith is set as an input character string, the candidate extraction unit 14 stores the attribute information in an attribute memory 18, and preferentially extracts a word associated with the attribute information stored in the attribute memory 18, in searching the dictionaries 16, 17. |
