<p>A system having the present invention applied thereto has: a first storage unit storing programs to be updated; a second storage unit that stores setting information indicating whether or not program updates are valid; a communications unit for communicating via a network; a first determination unit that determines whether or not a program stored in the first storage unit should be updated, on the basis of a first version indicated by received update management information, if the communications unit has received the update management information indicating the first version of a program from a first information processing device connected to the network; a second determination unit that determines whether or not the setting information indicates that the program update is valid; an update unit that, if the first determination unit has determined that the program should be updated and the second determination unit has determined that the setting information indicates that the program update is valid, uses the communications unit to request and obtain update data for the program from the first information processing device, and uses the obtained update data and updates the program stored in the first storage unit; and an update management unit that, if the update unit has updated a program, uses the communications unit and causes update management information to be sent and, upon a request from a second information processing device that received the sent update management information, uses the communications unit and causes the update data to be sent.</p> |
