Encapsulated insulating material comprises fibre mat with covered main and lateral surfaces and vapor-proof under layer. The insulating material, e.g. for home insulation, consists of a fibre mat (1) e.g. of glass fibres, having opposite main surfaces (2, 3) and lateral surfaces (4, 5), all of which are covered. The covering material is in a strip (6) that covers at least the central portion of the first main surface (2) and is attached to it, and a second layer of a non-woven material (7, 8, 9) that covers the second main surface and sides of the mat and is joined to the edges of the first strip. The middle section (7) of the second layer is of a vapor-proof material such as an aluminum-coated plastic film. |
