<p>A periphery monitoring device (100A) for a shovel (60) provided with a notification unit (20) capable of being seen from a periphery is provided with: a work-machine-state determination means (14) for determining whether the shovel (60) is in a state in which work can be performed; a person's presence determination means (12) for determining whether a person is present in the periphery of the shovel (60); a notification-unit control means (15) for controlling the notification unit (20); and a work-permision determination means (16) for determining whether the shovel (60) is permitted to perform work. The notification-unit control means (15) sets a notification state of the notification unit (20) such that the notification state in cases when it is determined that the shovel (60) is in a state in which work can be performed, is different to the notification state in cases when it is determined that the shovel (60) is not in a state in which work can be performed. The work-permission determination means (16) determines, on the basis of a determination result from the person's presence determination means (12), whether the shovel (60) is permitted to perform work.</p> |
