The present invention describes a method and distributed antenna system for relaying telecommunication signals. The system comprises: a central hub 20 connectable to one or more base stations 5,6; a plurality of expansion units 42,44 digitally connected to the central hub and connectable to a plurality of remote units 80-1 to 80-8 for relaying signals to associated coverage areas. At least one of the plurality of expansion units is provided with a plurality of coverage area modules 56-1 to 56-3, wherein one or more of the plurality of remote units is connected to a selected one of the plurality of coverage area modules. Carrier bundles CB1-4 generated in the central hub are passed to selected coverage area modules where they are associated with a coverage area and passed to remote units for transmission. The system provides flexible and reconfigurable assignment of carrier bundles to different coverage areas. |
