The present invention relates to a composition for external application to the skin containing burdock seeds as an active ingredient. The composition for external application to the skin of the present invention is effective in maintaining skin homeostasis and prevents the aging of the skin by regulating transcription factors for sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBP-1c), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), or fatty acid synthase (FAS) and promoting biosynthesis of cholesterol or ceramide. |
