<p>A machine tool including a tool holder mounted to a platform, 9, comprising a plurality of legs, 1, extending from respective positions on the platform for connecting the platform to respective positions on a workpiece. Each leg has a first joint system at its platform end allowing each leg to pivot relative to the platform. Each first joint system has an actuator arrangement, 34 (see figure 2), having a first operating mode in which the actuator arrangement is configured to apply a load to move the respective leg, and a second operating mode in which the actuator arrangement is configured to allow free movement of the respective leg.
