A method for manufacturing a coil includes: a winding step of forming a winding having expected slot placement portions and expected coil end placement portions; a protrusion forming step of forming the expected coil end placement portion into a protruding shape; a crank forming step of forming a stepped portion in the expected coil end placement portion; an opening step of forming the winding so that an interval between the pair of expected slot placement portions gradually increases in the stacking direction of the loops of the conductor; and an arc forming step of forming an edge of the expected coil end placement portion into an arc shape.
