The invention relates to a method in a manoeuvring assistance system (102) of a vehicle (100), wherein environmental data detected in particular by an environmental sensory system is permanently stored, as well as a corresponding manoeuvring assistance system (102). In such a process the detected environment is stored as representative environmental data in such a manner that it is available when restarting the system (102), wherein the method for starting the system consists of the following steps: again detecting the vehicle environment with the environment sensor system; comparing the currently visible environment (104, 106) to environmental data for a visible environment stored prior to the start; and selectively outputting a warning based on the comparison and based on the environmental data stored for a blind angle (120) prior to the start.
