摘要 A laser device comprises an output coupler, a gain medium to generate laser light, a back optical element, and an input coupler. The input coupler allows a pump beam to be oriented to the gain medium and is arranged to define an optical route between the output coupler and the back optical element. The back optical element is a spatial light modulator which is arranged to act as an intra-cavity digital holographic mirror in which an address can be designated in a digital manner. The spatial light modulator selectively displays a grey-scale image of the hologram to phase-modulate laser light in cavity, thereby generating an output laser beam included in desired properties. The device comprises: a computer which is arranged to generate at least one hologram corresponding to the desired output beam properties; and a driving circuit to generate the corresponding grey-scale image of the hologram on the spatial light modulator in response to the output from the computer.
