Dynamic stiffness measuring apparatus comprises a vibration source having a known frequency range (shaker 19) and a base (12) between which a test component (21) and a response structure (13) are provided in series on axis 15. The response structure, which may be of plywood, is flexible, is instrumented (eg accelerometer 26) and provides a substantially even distribution of modes across the applied frequency range. The results are used to determine the stiffness of the test component, which may be an engine mount. |
