An extension lead 10 comprises an electrical power cable, two electrical connectors 50 on each end of the cable, a drum on which the cable in wound and a housing. The housing comprises a slot with a width parallel to the axis of the drum greater than a height perpendicular to the axis of the drum. The housing may have a roller over which the cable passes, a resistance mechanism which causes the resistance to rotation of the roller in one direction to be greater than the resistance to rotation of the roller in the opposite direction, and/or bearing supporting the drum. The housing may be in the shape of a cube. There may be a light source 150 on the drum. One of the connectors may comprise a plurality of different types of connectors. The housing may have an electrical energy converter, storage for the power cable, a coupling mechanism for holding one of the connectors (270 fig. 3), a door for concealing the connectors 70, a resealable access cover, an internal power supply and/or a tripod mount 210. The housing may have edges and/or corners covered by shock-absorbing material 75. The resistance mechanism may comprise a lever, directional bearings, a friction member, an idler and/or a governor. |
