The manufacturing method includes leading a foil web (10) from a foil supply real (11) and leading an associated rectangular card blank (12) from a card supply magazine (14). The foil web (10) and card blank )12) are overlapped and delivered to a stamping station (15). At the stamping station (15) a die stamp (16) embosses a desired design of foil from the foil web (10) onto the card blank (12). downstream of the stamping station (15) the waste foil web (18) is wound up on a collecting reel (20). As the waste foil web (18) is lifted away from the card (12), a number of air jets (22) blow a pressurised air stream (23) or air streams between the foil web (18) and the card (12) at each embossed portion to aid in the separation of the waste foil web (18) from the card blank (12).
