The method involves connecting two subscribers over a data connection (30). A protocol stack is processed by a processor unit of the subscribers. A data exchange between the subscribers is organized by the data connection by a communication call routine in a session layer of a protocol stack. A read-write routine is provided for filling and/or reading a buffer memory in a transport layer of the protocol stack that maps the data to a series of telegrams, where priority levels for transport of data are defined with different priority levels in telegrams.
