1. A process for making higher olefin copolymers, wherein the process comprises contacting:
(i) from about 20 to about 99.9 mol % of at least one C5 to C40 higher olefin; iii) from about 0.1 to about 80 mol % of propylene; wherein the contacting occurs in the presence of a catalyst system comprising an activator and at least one metallocene compound represented by at least one of the formulae: where: M is hafnium or zirconium; each X is, independently, selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl radicals having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, hydrides, amides, alkoxides, sulfides, phosphides, halogens, dienes, amines, phosphines, ethers, and a combination thereof, (two X's may form a part of a fused ring or a ring system); each Q is, independently carbon or a heteroatom; each R1 is, independently, a C1 to C8 alkyl group, R1 may the same or different as R2; each R2 is, independently, a C1 to C8 alkyl group; each R3 is, independently, hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, provided however that at least three R3 groups are not hydrogen; each R4 is, independently, hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group, a heteroatom or heteroatom containing group; R5 is hydrogen or a C1 to C8 alkyl group; R6 is hydrogen or a C1 to C8 alkyl group; each R7 is, independently, hydrogen or a C1 to C8 alkyl group, provided however that at least seven R7 groups are not hydrogen; R2aT is a bridging group, where T is C, Si, or Ge; each Ra is, independently, hydrogen, halogen or a C1 to C20 hydrocarbyl; two Ra can form a cyclic structure including aromatic, partially saturated or saturated cyclic or fused ring system; and further provided that any two adjacent R groups may form a fused ring or multicenter fused ring system where the rings may be aromatic, partially saturated or saturated; or where: M is hafnium or zirconium; each X is, independently, selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl radicals having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, hydrides, amides, alkoxides, sulfides, phosphides, halides, dienes, amines, phosphines, ethers, and a combination thereof, (two X's may form a part of a fused ring or a ring system); each R8 is, independently, a C1 to C10 alkyl group; each R9 is, independently, a C1 to C10 alkyl group; each R10 is hydrogen; each R11, R12, and R13, is, independently, hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group, a heteroatom or heteroatom containing group; T is a bridging group represented by the formula R2aJ, where J is C, Si, or Ge; each Ra is, independently, hydrogen, halogen or a C1 to C20 hydrocarbyl; two Ra can form a cyclic structure including aromatic, partially saturated or saturated cyclic or fused ring system; and further provided that any two adjacent R groups may form a fused ring or multicenter fused ring system where the rings may be aromatic, partially saturated or saturated; further provided that any of adjacent R11, R12, and R13 groups may form a fused ring or multicenter fused ring system where the rings may be aromatic, partially saturated or saturated; or wherein M is hafnium or zirconium; each X is, independently, selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl radicals having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, hydrides, amides, alkoxides, sulfides, phosphides halogens, dienes, amines, phosphines, ethers, or a combination thereof; each R15 and R17 are, independently, a C1 to C8 alkyl group; and each R16, R18, R19, R20, R21, R22, R23, R24, R25, R26, R27, and R28 are, independently, hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; and wherein the higher olefin copolymer has an Mn of 300 g/mol or more (measured by 1H NMR) and comprises:
(i) from about 20 to about 99.9 mol % of at least one C5 to C40 higher olefin; and(ii) from about 0.1 to about 80 mol % of propylene; and wherein the higher olefin copolymer has at least 40% allyl chain ends. |
