<p>According to an embodiment of the present invention, a device comprises a main pole layer of a magnetic material; a second layer of a magnetic material; a first gap layer of a non-magnetic material positioned between the second layer of the magnetic material and the main pole layer of the magnetic material; and a second gap layer of a non-magnetic material positioned between the second layer of the magnetic material and the main pole layer of the magnetic material. The second gap layer of the non-magnetic material is positioned very close to the second layer of the magnetic material. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the device allows the gap to play a role as a non-magnetic seed for the second layer of the magnetic material.
