PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound that, when included in a lubricating oil, can enhance longevity of shudder prevention, as well as gear-shift characteristics and torque transmission capacity, all to satisfactory levels.SOLUTION: The invention provides a succinimide compound represented by the specified general formula (1), and a friction modifier and a lubricating-oil composition that contain the succinimide compound.
