<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle beam therapy system that concurrently achieves high energy particle beam therapy, which uses a proton beam, a carbon beam, or the like, and neutron beam therapy.SOLUTION: A drift tube linear accelerator causes an incident particle beam to pass through a plurality of cylindrical drift tube electrodes 1 arranged along a beam traveling direction of the particle beam in an acceleration cavity and accelerates the particle beam by means of a high frequency electric field caused between the plurality of drift tube electrodes 1. At least a part of an inner surface of the acceleration cavity is made of a high-temperature superconducting material 4, with the at least a part of the inner surface being other than an opposing surface 1a where the plurality of drift tube electrodes 1 oppose each other. Cooling means is provided which cools the acceleration cavity to a temperature, at which the high-temperature superconducting material 4 exhibits a superconducting characteristic, or lower.</p> |
