PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for wastewater treatment which allow simplification of the apparatus configuration and achieve a high nitrogen removal ratio.SOLUTION: A wastewater treatment apparatus includes an anaerobic treatment tank, an aerobic treatment tank for treating the primary treatment water treated in the anaerobic treatment tank and a sulfur denitrification reactor which treats the secondary treatment water treated in the aerobic treatment tank and discharges the treated water as final treatment water. By causing the secondary treatment water to pass through once, the sulfur denitrification reactor reduces nitrate- and nitrite-form nitrogen produced in the secondary treatment water under the action of sulfur denitrification bacteria with hydrogen sulfide contained in biogas discharged from the anaerobic treatment tank to remove nitrogen of the secondary treatment water. |
