PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection method capable of dealing with expansion of a target area without giving a restriction to software design or hardware component selection.SOLUTION: A detection point of a minimum scanning angle in a scanning direction is set as a reference point and on the basis of distance data of the reference point, a coupling center point and a coupling radius are set which become a criterion for determining whether corresponding to the reference point is enabled. It is then determined whether another detection point different from the reference point is present on a second straight line within a range of the coupling radius from the coupling center point. In the case where the other detection point is present, spatial clustering is performed which is logical coupling processing for making the other detection point correspondent to the reference point. A coupling line segment is set which is a virtual line segment connecting detection point groups on which spatial clustering has been performed, and a detection point group indicated by the coupling line segment is determined as corresponding to one object. |
