PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly determine creditability of a person.SOLUTION: An authentication system comprises: an electronic storage medium which stores information concerning a portable terminal for receiving a communication service; and an authentication device. The electronic storage medium also stores first biometric authentication data acquired in advance from a user and payment history information of charges for receiving the communication service. The authentication device comprises: a detection unit which detects biometric authentication data of the user as second biometric authentication data; an authentication processing unit which compares the first biometric authentication data stored in the electronic storage medium with the second biometric authentication data detected by the detection unit, and on the basis of a result of the comparison, performs authentication by determining whether the user is a proper user; and a creditability determination unit which determines personal creditability for the user on the basis of a result of the authentication by the authentication processing unit and the payment history information stored in the electronic storage medium.
