PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin for a lithographic printing ink resin capable of yielding a high-quality printed matter imparting a glossy appearance and accompanied by scarce misting; and a lithographic printing ink including the same.SOLUTION: A resin for a lithographic printing ink accompanied by scarce misting and a lithographic printing ink including the same are provided by a method for manufacturing a rosin-modified phenol resin (A) which is a method for manufacturing a rosin-modified phenol resin by reacting a rosin (a), a resol-type phenol resin (b), a regenerated vegetable oil (c), and a polyol (d) wherein an acid catalyst is further added at a stage where the acid value has reached 80 (mgKOH/g) or below as a result of the progress of a synthesizing reaction.
