PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propagating and culturing apparatus enabling propagation and culture of foraminifera stably for a long term even when breeding the foraminifera which is kind of having good calcification efficiency, and to provide a method for producing the foraminifera.SOLUTION: In a propagating and culturing apparatus, an artificial turf 7 whose projections are upright about 2 cm is spread in a vat 5 and coral sand 9 whose diameter size is 100-500μm is spread about 1 cm thick over that. The propagating and culturing apparatus is provided with an aerator 11 for agitation which agitates the whole water in the vat 5 at random for the coral sand 9 to be always uniformly agitated on the bottom face of vat 5 (the bottom face of artificial turf 7) and to also keep the state.
