PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device which is small-sized and has good vehicle mountability.SOLUTION: A shift device 1 for a vehicle having a shift knob 10 operated to select a shift range, and a base 2 supporting the shift knob 10 to be operated and fixed to the vehicle side, includes: a shift shaft 12 extending the shift knob 10 in a shift direction; an intermediate member 3 held on the shift shaft 12 to be relatively moved forward and backward in the shift direction and supporting the shift knob 10; a shift plunger 351 energized in a predetermined energizing direction and for moving in the direction orthogonal to the energizing direction with the operation of the shift knob 10 in the shift direction; and a return block 23 disposed so that the shift plunger 351 pushes against it. The energizing direction of the shift plunger 351 is set substantially parallel to an operating surface 219 of the shift knob. |
