PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover phosphorus in phosphorus-containing organic waste water regardless of its concentration.SOLUTION: A phosphorus recovery method comprises: a first step of introducing phosphorus-containing waste water into a settling tank, and settling and separating a sludge component in the phosphorus-containing waste water by solid-liquid separation to obtain primary treated water containing phosphorus from the phosphorus-containing waste water; and a second step of introducing the primary treated water into a reaction tank and distributing, in the reaction tank, carriers carrying phosphorus accumulation bacteria having a function of synthesizing polyhydroxyalkanoates in their cells using organic substances, discharging polyphosphoric acid in their cells in an anaerobic condition, and accumulating phosphorus in their cells in an aerobic condition. The phosphorus recovery method also includes: a third step of setting the inside of the reaction tank to an aerobic condition, and absorbing and accumulating the phosphorus in the phosphorus-containing organic waste water; and a fourth step of transferring the phosphorus accumulation bacteria used in the reaction tank into a recovery tank disposed downstream of the reaction tank to recover the phosphorus accumulation bacteria, and obtaining phosphorus-removed secondary treated water from the phosphorus-containing waste water. |
