The present invention relates to a coupling agent for a fire-retardant thermoplastic composition including a maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene having a melting point higher than 115°C (Celsius), characterized in that it also includes an ethylene/acrylate/maleic anhydride terpolymer, the proportion of said terpolymer being 33 to 99.5 wt % of the mixture. The invention also relates to a composition including said coupling agent, as well as to a cable or tube comprising a plurality of layers, at least one of which is made from said composition.
