PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which transmittance and an aperture ratio are improved and side visibility is secured.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes one display plate, the other display plate opposite to the one display plate, and a liquid crystal layer which is interposed between the one display plate and the other display plate and includes liquid crystal molecules vertically aligned without application of an electric field. One pixel includes a first subpixel and a second subpixel, and each of the first subpixel and the second subpixel includes a first electrode which is formed on one substrate included in the one display plate and has a planar structure in one subpixel area, a second electrode which is formed on the first electrode and is insulated from and overlaps with the first electrode and includes a linear electrode, and a third electrode which is formed on the other substrate included in the other display plate and has a planar shape. A voltage applied to the second electrode of the first subpixel and a voltage applied to the second electrode of the second subpixel are different from each other. |
