PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation purification method for light gas oil which shows a high desulfurization activity.SOLUTION: A support is prepared by causing titanium to be supported in an alumina-containing refractory inorganic oxide in a content of 0.5-15 mass%, in terms of titania to the amount of the refractory inorganic oxide, by means of the sol-gel method with titanium alkoxide dissolved in an organic solvent as a raw material, and subjecting the resultant product to a drying and/or a calcination step. An active metal consisting of molybdenum plus cobalt or molybdenum plus nickel is caused to be supported in the support, and the resultant product is calcined to obtain a catalyst. Sulfur in the light gas oil is removed in a hydrogen gas flow by using the catalyst. |
