PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor electrode that allows preventing reverse electron reaction in an electrolytic solution.SOLUTION: A semiconductor electrode includes a metal oxide n-type semiconductor with porous properties. The semiconductor electrode (10) has a basal portion (101) including a first n-type semiconductor; and a surface portion (102) provided at least a part of a surface of the basal portion and including a second n-type semiconductor having oxygen deficiency.
