FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to use of an anti-prolactin veterinary composition for administering to ruminants during gestation in order to induce considerable reduction in lactation, mammary involution and for treating and/or preventing diseases or infections in mammary glands in ruminants. Said composition includes at least one anti-prolactin compound which is a dopamine receptor agonist, where the dopamine receptor agonist is an ergoline derivative selected from cabergoline, metergoline, lisurdine, bromocriptine, ergometrine and/or derivatives thereof or the dopamine receptor agonist, which is not an ergoline derivative, is selected from ropinirole, pramipexole, rotigotine, quinagolide, and/or a derivative thereof.
