The device (49) has a light source (14) i.e. laser source, remote from a diffusing medium (18) and providing an incident light beam (15) to illuminate the diffusing medium. A sensor (16) detects a radiation emitted by the diffusing medium. A support (50) of the diffusing medium is partially non-absorbent for the incident light beam and the diffused radiation. The support is formed of a diffusing material, whose decreased diffusion coefficient is greater than 0.1 per cm and smaller than 700 per cm. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a support of a diffusing medium.
