The present invention enables an optical transmission function and an optical reception function to be used at the same time even when a common light source is used for the transmission side and the reception side. This optical transmitter/receiver is equipped with: an optical branching means for dividing light from an optical output means into first branched light and second branched light; an optical power adjustment means for adjusting the optical power of the first branched light and of the second branched light; an optical transmission means for modulating the first branched light after the optical power thereof has been adjusted and outputting a first optical signal; an optical reception means for causing the second branched light after the optical power thereof has been adjusted to interfere with an externally-input second optical signal for reception; and a control means for controlling the optical power adjustment means in accordance with the optical characteristics of the output light.
