<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate necessity for securing a blank medium portion for printing a flash pattern when printing a job.SOLUTION: The present system and method selectively move flash drops from multiple ink drops discharged from a printing engine when data of a printing job is printed. In one embodiment, a printing system includes a controlling system. The controlling system receives a flash pattern for flashing an ink jet printing engine of the printing system, receives a sheet surface bit map for printing the flash pattern on a printing medium, generates a synthetic sheet bit map by merging the flash pattern and the sheet surface bit map, controls a process for discharging the multiple ink drops to the printing medium on the basis of the synthetic sheet bit map and the sheet surface bit map and a process for specifying a part of the ink drops on the basis of the flash pattern, and controls a drop deflection system of the printing system so that the part of the ink drops does not selectively leave tracks.</p> |
