摘要 This disclosure provides, among other things, a method to speed up the time in an assay, comprising: obtaining a plate comprising a local electric-field and electric-field gradient enhancement layer on a substrate surface; attaching capture agents to the surface of the enhancement layer; applying a voltage between the enhancement layer and at least one counter electrode to produce a local electric field and an electric-field gradient in the solution; and detecting binding of the target analyte to the capture agents on the plate; wherein the speed of movement of the analyte, the orientation of the analyte, the orientation of the capture agent, the speed of binding and/or the strength of binding of the analyte to the capture agent are improved by the electric field gradient and/or the electric field, and the time in detecting the analyte is reduced. Systems for performing the method are also disclosed.
