<p> Electrocasting is used to manufacture de Laval nozzles, which are a variety of nozzle used in aerospace applications and diverse industrial fields. de Laval nozzles are not suited to complex machining or cutting tools. In order for composite jet nozzles having a plurality of convergent parts, throat parts, divergent parts, and pass-through parts to be manufactured by electrocasting, the tapered leading ends of a plurality of separate mandrels constituting the convergent parts, throat parts, divergent parts, and pass-through parts are brought into contact and linked, before being simultaneously electrolyzed in liquid electrolyte. The material electrodeposited on the outer periphery of the mandrels is separated from the mandrels to produce a jet nozzle. When the mandrels are improperly linked, an auxiliary linking part is fabricated on the outer periphery of the linking part as a remedial operation, and electrolysis is then performed in liquid electrolyte. The material electrodeposited on the mandrels is separated from the mandrels to produce a jet nozzle.</p> |
